Listen to the Holy Spirit

God reveals things to each of us in different ways. For you, it could be in a passage of scripture that you’re reading, in an incident you witnessed or an experience you had. When that light bulb moment flickers, take notice. Don’t quickly assume it’s something you’ve heard before or already know.

“When you are brought before synagogues, rulers and authorities, do not worry about how you will defend yourselves or what you will say, for the Holy Spirit will teach you at that time what you should say.”
-Luke 12:11-12 NIV

If you want to cultivate more ah-ha moments in your life, then choose to be humble and ask, “God, what are you revealing to me? What is it that you want me to learn through this?”

One practical thing you can do to cultivate more of your ah-ha moments is to listen to the Holy Spirit.

The Holy Spirit is your comforter and our guide.

Jesus told his disciples as they prepared to go into the world, “Now when they bring you into the synagogues and magistrates and authorities, don’t worry about how you should answer or what you should say” (Luke 12:11). He’s saying, “Your life is going to be tough. You are going to be challenged. People are going to drag you into court and into the synagogues. You are going to be challenged on what you believe.” Then He says, “For the Holy Spirit will teach you in that very hour what you ought to say” (Luke 12:12).

When you have that wrestling in your spirit that something isn’t right, or there is something that needs to change in your life, that’s the moment to get very serious about prayer and ask the Lord to reveal through the Holy Spirit what to do and say.

Today’s One Thing

Begin to lean in and listen to the Holy Spirit on a regular basis. Make it a habit to ask, “Lord, what ah-ha moment is out there for me today?”
