Celebrate Gifts and Talents
The Crayon Box that Talked, a beautifully written and illustrated book by Shane Derolf, celebrates the unity that can happen when a box of crayons, all uniquely different, come together to make a wonderful picture.
So we, though many, are one body in Christ, and individually members one of another. Having gifts that differ according to the grace given to us, let us use them.
─ Romans 12:5-6 ESV
Be thankful for the spiritual gifts of others.
Celebrate the unique gifts each person brings to your life with gratitude.
Similarly, the apostle Paul used the imagery of how parts of a body work together to portray how the Body of Christ should work and live together (Romans 12:1-8).
Our gifts from God are individual and unique, just as He fashioned each one of us. And yet, each one of us are made in His image.
Six ways to celebrate the gifts of others:
- Acknowledge that all abilities and talents come from God.
- Realize very few, if any people, have the same gifts.
- Understand what you do best, and what other’s do best.
- Celebrate when you see their gifts at work.
- Thank God for their gifts.
- Serve by example and give your abilities and talents wholehearted to God’s service.
Today’s One Thing
Examine your gifts today. What abilities and talents has God given you? If you’re not sure, go to someone you trust and ask them to pray with you about your gifts. Open your heart and ask God to show you how He’d like you to use the gifts He’s given to you to help others know Him.
