The Ministry of Time

God uses the simplest acts of kindness in the most unimaginable ways.

The steps of a man are established by the Lord, when he delights in his way.
– Psalm 37:23 ESV

Kelley’s life was full of her job and the needs of her husband and children. Between homework, sports, groceries and meal preparations, she didn’t know how she could fit in one more thing. Yet she kept getting the urge to invite a lady from her church to have lunch with her. Kelley finally gave in to what she knew was from God.

The woman was visibly surprised at Kelley’s invitation, but they figured out a time and place they could both meet on their lunch hour. They had a simple meal and shared a bit of their lives with each other. Then they returned to work and went about the rest of the day. Kelley thought it went well but didn’t see specifically what God might have had in mind.

God can grow a simple act of spending time with someone into something more meaningful than you might imagine.

It wasn’t until years later that the woman told Kelley how much it meant to her that she had taken the time to invite her to lunch that day. Then it clicked, and Kelley realized this woman was inviting other women to lunch, and God’s idea had grown into a ministry for her.

Be careful not to minimize a simple act of kindness God places on your heart. He uses you in people’s lives in ways you may not realize. He equips you for good and for His glory.
