Feed Yourself God’s Word
Remember the phrases “You are what you eat;” “Garbage in, garbage out” and “A healthy body is a healthy mind?” While these phrases are associated with diet, computer science and biological psychology, they are all connected to your quality of output, and your well-being is determined by the quality of input you consume.
All Scripture is breathed out by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness.
– 2 Timothy 3:16 ESV
Nourishing your soul with God’s Word is an incredible part of our spiritual growth and development. Reading God’s Word allows you to connect with the Lord, gain wisdom and understanding and be transformed by His truth.
Quality spiritual nourishment requires a few simple action steps:
1. Commit to reading and reflecting on His word daily. For most of us, this means setting aside a specific time to read and reflect on God’s Word. Consistency is key in nourishing your soul with God’s instructions and promises.
2. Accept the mystery and wonder of God’s Word. It’s not just about gaining knowledge for academic reasons but about being transformed by His truth.
God desires you to live a healthy and vibrant life using His Word.
3. Pray through the passage you are reading and allow yourself to hear the Lord speak to you directly. This conscious effort may turn into a time of praise.
4. Connect with others who are also on a journey of spiritual development through His Word. Collaborating and encouraging other believers in the same pursuit is golden to your nourishment.
5. Enjoy the journey, people and encounters God places before you as you nourish yourself. It’s an ongoing process that takes time and consistency, but the journey is invaluable.
Feeding your soul with God’s word is essential to your spiritual growth. Use these above action steps for quality nourishment and divine interaction.
