Love is Listening
By listening more than talking, you can dive deeper into understanding another.
The purposes of a person’s heart are deep waters, but one who has insight draws them out.

Good communication requires listening. To understand where the other person is coming from, you must be willing to hear their side of a situation.
People feel loved and heard when you take the time to listen.
When you listen and ask follow up questions, the other person feels valued, and you begin to draw out their thoughts and beliefs. A follow up question can be as simple as, “Can you tell me more about that?” If you do all the talking, you will walk away not knowing them any better than when you began.
If you want to get to know a person in your life and show the love of Christ, ask questions. Listen, and then ask follow up questions to go deeper.

A prayer you can pray: Lord, help me to show love by being slow to speak today, quick to listen and ask questions that draw out the thoughts of another person.
