When Music Speaks

Finding Hope in Unexpected Places with Micah Tyler

Sometimes, guidance and hope come from the most unexpected sources. Micah Tyler, a name you likely recognize from the Christian music scene, recently shared a story of how God speaks through our moments of uncertainty to lead us towards Him.

“I hate social media because I’m just not good at it… But it is really cool to be able to connect people and get those stories,” says Micah. His admission is refreshingly honest in our digitally dominated era. Like Micah, you might not always feel adept at navigating the landscapes of modern life, where sharing and capturing every moment is the norm. Yet, there’s a profound lesson in his words. It’s okay to live fully in the moment, experiencing life as it unfolds around us, rather than through the lens of a camera or a social media post.

Prefer the Moments

For you, this might mean learning to surrender your worries and the need to control every detail of your life. Letting go and trusting that God is at work, even in the unseen, can open your heart to the unexpected ways He speaks and guides you.

Micah recounts a touching encounter with a young woman whose life was changed by one of his songs. Facing an overwhelming decision, she found clarity and hope when God used his music to reach her in a moment of despair. “She said, I really do want God to change my circumstances, but I didn’t know what to do.”

Music to Guide You

God can use anything, even a song on the radio, to reach us when we need it most. Music has the incredible ability to connect with us on a deep emotional level, offering comfort, hope, and sometimes, a much-needed heavenly nudge towards making a difficult but life-affirming decision.

Reflecting on the impact of his music, Micah shares, “It makes me feel so humbled that God would use the breath inside of my lungs to sing about Him.”

Your talents and opportunities are not for your glory but for serving others and glorifying God.

Talent and Gifts

You have unique gifts and a voice that can make a difference in someone’s life. Whether through words, actions, or simply being present, you can be a vessel for God’s love and grace. It’s about finding purpose in your day, seeking ways to use your talents to reflect the gospel and support those around you in their own journeys of faith.

Micah said, “God’s Word is alive. There’s a little boy who has breath in his lungs now because God somehow used the breath in mine. It’s insane. It’s a song, but it changed something that day. So, it makes me want to go jump back in a room again on the days where I’m tired.” Despite the exhaustion from travel and the challenges of being away from family, he finds renewed purpose in his mission to share Christ through music.

Living Intentionally for Christ

Similarly, you are called to live a gospel-centered life, sharing God’s love in whatever form that takes. It might be through music, like Micah, or through other forms of creativity, service, or simply through the way you live your life. Micah proclaimed, “Put me in a room, let me work hard to point others towards the gospel, not because I just want to hear myself on the radio, but because I want the gospel to be sent in a way that could save somebody else.”

Micah Tyler

Micah Tyler’s story, particularly the profound impact of his song on a young woman’s life, clearly demonstrates the unexpected ways God works through us.

Your faith can be much more than personal salvation; you can be the instrument of God’s love and grace to others.

Your life, your talents, and your story have the power to change the world around you, one heart at a time. Let’s walk this journey together, with open hearts and minds, ready to see where God will lead us next.
