“Do It Scared” with Rhett Walker
Rhett Walker’s journey from teenage parenthood to being a Grammy-nominated artist is full of fearful moments where he chose to step out in faith. He said, “I tell my kids all the time, ‘Do stuff scared.’ You would rather lay your head on your pillow at night knowing that you tried it, than running from it.
For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind.
– 2 Timothy 1:7 NKJV
Rhett’s advice to “do stuff scared” is less about taking risks and more about trusting God has a bigger plan for your life, one that unfolds in the most unexpected ways when you step forward in faith.
He said, “If it’s God ordained, if that’s what you’re supposed to do, you’re going to have to cross that hurdle sometime down the road.”
It’s about acknowledging your fears but choosing not to let them dictate your actions. Instead, you lean on the strength that comes from a relationship with God, knowing that He has not given you a spirit of fear, but of power, love, and a sound mind (2 Timothy 1:7).
Take that step of faith, even when it’s scary; you’ll find God’s grace is sufficient and His power is made perfect in you.
Whether it’s a challenge at work, a calling you feel unprepared for, or personal goals that seem out of reach, remember that courage is not the absence of fear, but the determination to move forward despite it. And as you do, you’ll find that God’s grace is sufficient for you, His power made perfect in weakness.
Face your fears, whatever they may be. Let the stories of those who’ve walked this path before you remind you of what’s possible when you trust in God’s plan for your life. Embrace your journey with courage and faith, and watch as God turns your fears into milestones of victory and growth.
Today’s One Thing
Pray: “Lord, give me the courage to face the fears that stand in the way of my calling. Remind me that I am not alone, that You are with me, guiding me through every challenge. Help me to trust in Your plan for my life, stepping out in faith even when I am scared. Amen.”
