Clearing the Clutter to Make Space for Peace

Life has a way of piling things on us. Some of it we choose—commitments, routines, relationships. Some of it sneaks in—distractions, bitterness, regrets, even things that once served a purpose but no longer do.

“Let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles. And let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us.”
— Hebrews 12:1 NIV

Before we know it, we’re burdened—not just physically, but emotionally and spiritually. We’re carrying mental clutter, relational weight, and spiritual noise that God never asked us to bear.

When you clear the clutter, you make space for the peace God has been waiting to give you.

“God really intends for us to have freedom in our lives—purpose, meaning. At the end of the day, we may be exhausted, but we’re not exhausted because of clutter. We’re exhausted because we’ve really fulfilled our purpose.” — Dr. Randy Carlson

So, ask yourself: What’s cluttering your life right now?
Is it a toxic relationship you’re afraid to let go of?
Is it the constant noise from social media that drowns out God’s voice?
Is it guilt from your past, whispering lies that God has already forgiven?

Whatever it is, God is inviting you to lay it down. Not everything you carry is meant for the journey He’s calling you to.

Let today be the day you take your first step toward clearing the clutter—and making room for peace.

Today’s One Thing
Pick one area—just one—and ask God: “Is this helping me run my race… or is it holding me back?”
