Encouragement as a Daily Practice

You know that emotional boost you feel when someone compliments you or sends you a thoughtful message, “Fantastic job on…”— “You make a difference.” That kind of encouragement breathes life into dry bones – doesn’t it? It sparks encouragement and gives extra energy to tired hearts. And the beautiful part? You carry the same ability. You hold the power, through Christ, to give and receive encouragement.

And let us consider how to stir up one another to love and good works, not neglecting to meet together, as is the habit of some, but encouraging one another, and all the more as you see the Day drawing near.
– Hebrews 10:24–25 ESV

God designed you for connection. He created you for real relationships that reflect His heart and give life to others. God calls you to stir others toward love and good works in everyday life.

God didn’t reserve encouragement for only those with the “gift of encouragement.” It’s a daily rhythm you grow into by choice as you recognize the value in someone else’s needs and daily walk. Who would this be in your life? It could be a coworker, a neighbor, your spouse, or a dear friend.

When you speak godly encouragement, it becomes energy for the soul.

And as you regularly build others up in Christ, something changes within you. It realigns your focus to see God’s activity in others and your own life. You begin to look for the good. You start believing again that people can grow, change, and walk in freedom. The Holy Spirit works through these moments of intentional kindness and honest words.

Don’t wait for the perfect moment or the right words. Start today. Speak life. Pray over someone when the Spirit brings them to mind. God uses those small acts to build His Church—not just as a structure, but as a living, breathing person that reflects His grace.

Today’s One Thing
Pray and ask the Holy Spirit for guidance on who to encourage and how. Speak to yourself, “I choose to encourage others with purpose and love. With the Holy Spirit’s help, I will speak life into someone today.”
