Blessing through Hospitality

Would you agree that there’s something personal about sharing your dining table? When you open your door and invite someone in, you create the opportunity for good conversation, laughter, and glimpses of God’s goodness—even if your friend isn’t a follower of Christ. So much more than plates or chairs, hospitality builds trust, offers grace, provides friendly connection, and lets people know they matter.

Cheerfully share your home with those who need a meal or a place to stay.
– 1 Peter 4:9 ESV

Do you shy away from inviting someone to your home because your house feels too small or cluttered, or your schedule is too busy? Sometimes pride whispers that you need a spotless kitchen or an impressive meal to welcome guests, or anxiety convinces you that you’ll say the wrong thing. But God never measures the worth of your invitation by the size of your home or the fanciness of your menu—He looks at your heart.

Your attitude and perspective change everything. You’re offering yourself—your time, your listening ear, your willingness to care—not perfection. When you invite others in, you reflect Jesus, who broke bread with sinners and saints, willingly expressing hospitality.

You don’t need a perfect home to show God’s love—just an open heart.

Opening your home often becomes an unexpected blessing to both you and others. Yes, inviting others into your home feels personal and a bit vulnerable, but God has a way of blessing you when you bless others. Conversations take surprising turns, burdens lighten, and you discover joy in simple acts—passing bread, refilling glasses, and hearing someone’s laughter. It’s all good for your soul.

Hospitality can look like sharing coffee on your porch, dropping off a homemade dessert, or inviting someone for leftovers after church. The Holy Spirit will show you opportunities to love people practically, one invitation at a time. Don’t underestimate how deeply someone might need exactly that kind of welcome.

Today’s One Thing
So, lean into really trusting God to use your imperfect home, your humble meal, and your sincere heart to bless others. As you trust Him, declare, “I trust God to bless others through my simple acts of hospitality.”
