Keeping Christ at the Center

Some days, especially during the Christmas season, can feel like a whirlwind. It’s not that you’ve forgotten Jesus; He’s still in the mix. But if you’re honest, sometimes He’s not the center.

And He is before all things, and in Him all things consist.
– Colossians 1:17 NKJV

We give God our Sundays, our morning quiet times, or the moments we’re desperate for help. But Christ was never meant to be squeezed in. He is the center from which everything else should flow.

Paul’s words in Colossians remind us: “He is before all things, and in Him all things consist.” Not some things. All things. Your family. Your health. Your career. Your emotions. Your purpose. If He holds it all together, then placing Him at the center is absolutely the most important thing you can do.

The instant life tugs at you in every direction, remember Christ’s invitation to make Him the center of it all.

We’re not looking for a balanced life. Balance implies we’re juggling and distributing our time evenly. But Jesus asks to be Lord. And from that surrendered posture, clarity and peace begin to emerge as He works through us to rightly order our lives. It’s about shifting the posture of your heart so that Christ becomes your reference point in every decision, every moment, every relationship.

Even during Christmas, a season that literally bears His name, we can lose sight of the One it’s all about. The noise, the planning, the pressure—it pulls. But the invitation still stands: center your heart on Christ. Let everything else orbit around His presence and purpose.

Today’s One Thing
Take five minutes today to assess your week. Ask honestly: Is Christ the center of my thoughts, my decisions, my schedule? Choose one area where you’ve been operating on autopilot and intentionally invite Him in.
