Create Christmas Memories that Matter
Christmas is rich with tradition—but not all traditions point to what truly matters. By anchoring our celebrations in Christ, we create meaningful moments that reflect the true heart of the season.
For unto us a Child is born, unto us a Son is given; and the government will be upon His shoulder. And His name will be called Wonderful, Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.
—Isaiah 9:6 NKJV
The beauty of Christmas is only found in the fulfilled promise of Isaiah 9:6—the Child who was born for us, the Son who was given. And while the world celebrates with lights and lists, we are invited to remember the season of our Savior’s arrival.
That’s why the traditions we create matter so much.
Christ-centered traditions invite us to center our hearts on what Christmas is really about.
Sometimes, it’s lighting a candle at dinner and reading a prophecy from Isaiah. Other times, it’s setting up a nativity scene together and talking about each figure’s role in the story. Maybe it’s taking a family walk to look at Christmas lights while listening to Scripture-based carols and reflecting on Jesus as the Light of the World.
Whatever it is, the key is to be intentional. Christ-centered traditions make space for awe and gratitude. They teach our children (and remind us) that Christmas is about how God gave us the greatest gift of all—His only Son.
Today’s One Thing
Look at your current Christmas traditions. Choose one to refresh with a Christ-centered focus or start a new one that reflects the hope of Isaiah 9:6. Keep it simple, and talk with your family about why it matters.
