Love That Moves First
Even when you feel overlooked, hesitant, or unsure how to respond, God’s love still moves toward you. Jesus doesn’t wait for readiness or resolve. He initiates relationship first. His kindness reaches you where you are and invites you into something more.
“For the Son of Man came to seek and to save the lost.”
– Luke 9:10 NIV
Zacchaeus didn’t climb the tree expecting a personal encounter. He only wanted to see Jesus from a distance. But Jesus stopped, looked up, and called him by name. Before repentance, before change, before apology, Jesus chose relationship.
That moment reveals something essential to us about God’s love. He moves first. Jesus didn’t wait for Zacchaeus to come down ready or worthy. He invited Himself into Zacchaeus’ life and home, showing that grace often arrives before transformation.
God’s love doesn’t wait for readiness; He creates it.
The same love that found Zacchaeus still finds you. When distraction dulls your awareness or hesitation slows your response, God does not withdraw. He draws near. The Holy Spirit continues to work gently, awakening desire, restoring sensitivity, and reminding you that you are seen and called—by name.
Change followed Zacchaeus’ encounter, but it didn’t cause it. Love came first. Love always does.
Jesus still stops, looks up, and calls people toward Himself. He doesn’t wait for you to improve; He offers His presence. Today, you are invited to respond from where you are right now. Love has already moved toward you.
Today’s One Thing
Acknowledge God’s nearness today. Say aloud, “Jesus, thank You for moving toward me before I had the words or the courage. I receive Your grace.”
