The Father Who Stays

When human relationships leave us hurting, God’s love remains constant—reaching into the deepest places with peace, comfort, and connection.

A father of the fatherless, a defender of widows, Is God in His holy habitation.
— Psalm 68:5 NKJV

Some losses are loud and visible—others are quiet, invisible, and linger in the soul. James from Michigan experienced both kinds of grief in one difficult year.

“I lost both my parents and my ex-mother-in-law all in 2024,” he shared. “I also lost connection with my daughter and son. They will not communicate with me on the reason why.”

It’s the kind of pain that can leave a person feeling hollow. But James found something stronger than sorrow.

“But God, with this station, gives me peace and comfort to handle all this.”

When your heart aches for connection, God, your Father leans in closer; His love anchors you.

Even in deep relational loss, the Father steps in to hold us. When human connections break, God offers a relationship that restores, anchors, and heals. He can fill our relational gaps, if we let Him.

James may not yet have answers from his children. He may still be walking through grief. But he’s finding God’s love is enough to steady his heart. Peace and comfort flow not from knowing the why—but from knowing Who is still with you.

If you’re feeling relational loss or silence, let the Father stir your heart again—not to fix everything at once, but to fill the empty spaces with His presence. You are seen. You are known. And in Him, you are never without love.

Today’s One Thing
Take a few minutes today to sit quietly and reflect on Psalm 68:5. Write down one way God has been a Father to you—especially in places where others have let you down. Let that stir your heart and remember His faithful love.
