The Healing Forgiveness Brings
There’s a spark inside you that still responds when God nudges your heart. Forgiveness may feel too heavy, but His Spirit keeps gently calling you toward freedom and healing.
Then Peter came to him and asked, “Lord, how often should I forgive someone who sins against me? Seven times?” “No, not seven times,” Jesus replied, “but seventy times seven!”
– Matthew 18:21-22 NLT
You know the places where your heart has grown numb. Resentment toward someone who has hurt you, unfortunately, settles in quietly. Your heart tightens a little at a time until you tuck forgiveness away and stop thinking about it.
God doesn’t shame you for feeling that way. It’s real. But Jesus points you toward forgiveness because He knows it softens your heart and lifts what weighs you down.
His gentle instructions in scripture remind you that forgiving someone again and again strengthens you in ways you can feel.
Forgiveness frees the heart and mind of unnecessary burdens.
You stand in a sacred space when you choose to listen to God’s direction. Forgiveness isn’t something you force. It grows when you respond to the Holy Spirit’s prompting. You hear God urging you to loosen your grip on old hurts, not because the offense was minor, but because your heart wasn’t created to cling to pain.
Jesus speaks about repeated forgiveness because it brings freedom that heals what’s hurting. Forgiving those who have hurt you opens the way to renewal. Love starts to flow again because forgiveness clears the path and aligns your heart with God’s direction.
God, who gave His only Son, loves you enough to call you into the freedom your heart longs to feel. A freedom that allows you to walk lighter, feel renewed, and be ready to let love move through you again.
Today’s One Thing
With the Spirit’s guidance to forgive, declare, “I choose forgiveness, and give this burden to Him.”
