Equally Yoked Christian Speed Dating – Livonia

Equally Yoked Christian Speed Dating and Singles Events is gathering Christian singles who desire Christ-centered relationships in accordance with 2 Corinthians 6:14 for an afternoon of conversation and connection. Two groups of singles ages 21-35 and 30-45 will have the opportunity to engage in up to 14 six-minute one-on-one conversations between a man and woman. Afterward, participants will mark with whom they would like to match. Emails will be sent later that evening sharing the email address of the other person, if both people agreed to match. The event will support the mission of Mount Hope Congregational Church in Livonia, where the event will be held. It also will feature an icebreaker as people get checked in, and the church’s pastor will do an invocation following instructions. We would invite Family Life Radio to share about its ministry and local involvement to our participants, who are a young, faith-engaged and desirable demographic to appeal to.

We previously hosted a similar event at DownRiver Church in Taylor in January, raising more than $670 for the church’s emergency food pantry and a majority of participants made at least one match through the speed dating. We also hosted a Christian Singles Valentine’s Day Brunch that brought together a group of singles to break bread together, for fellowship, and who made valentine cards for seniors at the American House Assisted Living Center in Dearborn Heights. We also are holding a game night in Ferndale on March 14 and collecting packs of diapers for the Care Net Emergency Pregnancy Center in Detroit.

Christian singles often feel disenfranchised in the church because of a lack of resources available to meet the needs of their life circumstances. Often discouraged by online dating, many are looking for ways to meet other single believers in-person who want to build the kingdom of God, but struggle to find those opportunities, don’t see many other singles in their own churches, and are hesitant to approach strangers “in the wild,” given how varied beliefs and values are in today’s culture. We are seeking to help bridge the gap by creating spaces that allow for real community and connection among people in similar life circumstances who’s faith is rooted in Christ.

I personally have listened to Family Life Radio since my college days in Hillsdale and am so glad I can easily tune in again in Metro Detroit. It would be an honor to have your team to share about the work you do at our April event.
