Let His Word Come Alive

God still speaks through His Word. When you linger with Him in Scripture, your heart begins to hear what your eyes alone can’t see.

And they said to one another, “Did not our heart burn within us while He talked with us on the road, and while He opened the Scriptures to us?”
– Luke 24:32 NKJV

Sometimes we come to scripture needing answers. Other times, we are looking for peace, or direction, or simply a sense of closeness to God. But there are days when the words feel quiet or familiar, and our minds are already full before we even open the pages.

The two disciples on the road to Emmaus knew what it was to feel uncertain. Their world had just shifted dramatically. Jesus had been crucified, and though rumors of His resurrection were swirling, they hadn’t seen Him for themselves. Their hearts were heavy, and their understanding incomplete.

But Jesus met them on the road, unknown to them at first, just walking beside them and sharing the scriptures. Somewhere along that journey, something started to stir. Their hearts came alive.

Stay in the Word until your heart hears Him.

God invites you to linger in His Word.
Slow down long enough to hear more than words.
Listen for His voice beneath the text.
Let truth settle in, even if it takes time.

God’s Word is living and active. When you approach it with expectation, you open the door for Him to speak to the places in you that need comfort, conviction, or clarity.

When you stay with the Word, you create space for the Spirit to do what He’s always done—reveal Jesus. And when your heart begins to burn with recognition, you’ll know He’s near.

God wants to meet you in His Word. He’s waiting for you, ready to open your eyes, stir your spirit, and bring fresh life through familiar passages.

Today’s One Thing
Set aside 15 quiet minutes today to read Luke 24:13–35. Ask the Holy Spirit to open the Word to you like Jesus did for those disciples. Wait, listen, and journal anything that begins to stir in your heart.
