In the Backseat, God Moved!

God is always working, and it’s often in unexpected moments, and in places as ordinary as the morning drive to school.

“Then I will give them a heart to know Me, that I am the Lord; and they shall be My people, and I will be their God, for they shall return to Me with their whole heart.”
— Jeremiah 24:7 NKJV

Allison from Arizona, didn’t plan for a life-changing moment that morning. But on the way to school, something happened in the car that would stir her heart—and her son’s—in a way she never expected.
“There was a lot of struggle for a while, and I just switched us over to Family Life Radio. So we were listening to the “Joy Report” one morning on our way to school, and Kankelfritz was talking to this woman who had called in, and she didn’t believe in God, but she just loved the station. She felt inspired. And Kankelfritz really just owned that opportunity and was so obedient to God, and he prayed with her on the radio and she dedicated her life to God. And while he was praying, my son in the back seat says, ‘Mom, I want to do that.’ And I go, ‘Okay, well, let’s pray—like—let’s pray with Kankelfritz and pray with this woman on the radio and pray with me and let’s do it.’ And he did. I did not expect how the Holy Spirit would just restore me and my family.”

God can use any moment—any morning, any song, any prayer—to stir a heart and change a family.

In the backseat of her car, between the school drop-off and the morning routine, God stirred a heart and brought a family closer to Himself.
What began as a hard season turned into a holy moment.
One woman’s courage to call in.
One radio host’s obedience.
One boy’s simple response: “I want to do that.”
And Allison’s response was equally powerful—“Let’s do it.”
When we make space for God, He fills it—often faster and fuller than we expect.
What followed wasn’t just a prayer—it was restoration. For Allison, it wasn’t only her son’s life that shifted. The Holy Spirit moved in her heart too; healing places she hadn’t realized needed repair.
That’s what God does. He surprises us with grace. He meets us with power in quiet places. And He brings restoration we didn’t even think to ask for.

You don’t have to create a perfect moment for God to move. Just be present. Be open. And trust that He’s already working—in you, in your family, and in the smallest spaces of your everyday life.

Today’s One Thing
Ask God to stir one heart in your home this week. Stay open, stay sensitive—and be ready to respond when the opportunity comes, even if it’s in the car on a weekday morning.
