When You Don’t Know What to Do

When you’re unsure, stressed out, or stretched thin, that’s when we pray the most honest of prayers. It comes from a place of full surrender. It’s a shift, turning your attention toward God in the middle of the unknown.

“You are our God! Punish them, for we are helpless in the face of this large army that is attacking us. We do not know what to do, but we look to you for help.”
– 2 Chronicles 20:12 GNT

Jehoshaphat was a king, so it would’ve been easy to feel pressure to sound confident. Instead, he gathered the people and prayed out loud what many of us keep inside: “We don’t know what to do.”

Surrender begins when you look to God again—right where you are.

He acknowledges the threat, and surrenders the outcome to the only One who could do something about His situation. He prays, “Our eyes are upon You.”

And God meets them with direction and reassurance, reminding them they aren’t alone in what they’re facing.

If you don’t know what to do today, you can lift your eyes to God. Let that be your beginning. God is inviting you to stay close, listen for the next step, and let Him hold what feels too heavy.

Today’s One Thing
Take a sticky note (or your Notes app) and write: “My eyes are on You.” Place it where you’ll see it often. When worry rises, whisper the prayer from 2 Chronicles 20:12: “God, I don’t know what to do… but my eyes are on You.”
