Letting Go of the Former Things
God creates your next chapter while you are still holding the pages of the last one. Renewal begins when you release what once was and trust Him for the beginning of your new journey.
Behold, I am doing a new thing; now it springs forth, do you not perceive it? I will make a way in the wilderness and rivers in the desert.
– Isaiah 43:19 NLT
Fresh beginnings carry a special kind of energy and excitement. God works in ways that cause us to stand back and simply trust Him. He invites you to lift your eyes from what once was and notice the new work He is already starting.
Isaiah spoke to people who knew the weight of disappointment and the memory of better days. Their history held both miracles and heartbreak. God reminded them that His power had never been limited to yesterday’s victories. The same God who once parted seas and rescued His people continued to move forward with purpose.
You may be experiencing this type of tension, too. Some seasons leave beautiful memories that make it tempting to linger in the past. Other seasons carry wounds that hold you captive and quietly shape your future expectations. When you trust God, He gently calls you to release both.
God’s renewal begins when you loosen your grip on yesterday and trust His work today.
Jesus makes renewal possible. Through His life, death, and resurrection, He opens the door to a transformation that goes deeper than circumstances. When you shift your attention from the past to what God is doing in the present, you begin to have confidence in His promises. Your past shaped you, yet it never defines the full extent of your future in Christ.
Release the former things and welcome the new work God is beginning. His purposes continue with creativity, grace, and hope. Your willingness to trust Him creates space for renewal that blesses both your life and the people around you.
Today’s One Thing
Declare aloud, “God is doing something new in my life, and I trust His renewing work as I step forward in faith.”
