Crossing Over into Promise

You can feel it—something new is ahead. But stepping into it often means releasing what you’ve been holding tightest. Like Israel stood at the edge of the Jordan River before entering the Promised Land, surrender opens the door to God’s blessings.

Then Joshua told the people, “Purify yourselves, for tomorrow the Lord will do great wonders among you.”
– Joshua 3:5 NLT

Seeing new opportunities brings a mix of excitement and reflection. Your heart senses possibility, yet your mind often drifts back to what feels familiar and comfortable. God invites you to pause at that threshold long enough to prepare your heart for what He has for you.

Israel experienced that moment at the Jordan River. After years of wandering in the wilderness, the people finally stood within sight of the land God promised to give them. The river flowed between them and the promised land they had waited years to enter. Before they could take a single step forward, Joshua called the people to prepare their hearts for what God was about to do.

The real challenge is often not whether the opportunity is there, but whether your heart is ready to let go of what could keep you from walking into it. Old fears, past disappointments, and familiar habits can make it hard to step into a new season with freedom. Surrender opens your heart for God to move with power as you follow His lead..

God’s promise begins unfolding when you step forward in surrendered obedience.

You may feel as if you are standing at your own Jordan River. A decision waits. A calling grows clearer. A new direction quietly forms in your heart. God gently asks you to release whatever holds you back so you can step forward and receive blessings.

The God who guided Israel across the Jordan still leads His people today. When you surrender what belongs to yesterday, you position your heart to experience the wonders God has for you today and tomorrow.

Today’s One Thing
Identify one thing God is asking you to release before you step into what’s next. Then pray, “God, I trust Your leading. I surrender what holds me back and step forward with faith into the promises You have prepared for me.”
