Resting in the Finished Work of Christ

Jesus offers something far better than measuring up—rest grounded in what He has already completed for you. The pressure to prove yourself has been lifted.

When Jesus had received the sour wine, he said, “It is finished,” and he bowed his head and gave up his spirit.
– John 19:30 ESV

Jesus reached the cross and fulfilled every requirement. In that sacred moment, He completed the work of redemption—fully, perfectly, and forever for you.

The world, through relationships, occupations, and expectations, often plants a seed, asking you to believe something more remains for you to earn. So, you try harder, push further, and carry burdens that are never meant for your shoulders. Jesus didn’t leave anything unfinished. His sacrifice covered every failure, every shortcoming, and every striving heart that longs for peace.

God designed a plan anchored in love, not performance. Jesus carried that plan to completion through His obedience. The Holy Spirit now reminds you daily that you are already accepted, already forgiven, and completely secure in Christ.

Because Jesus said, “It is finished,” you never have to earn what He has already given.

Jesus’s faithful obedience frees you. You can serve, love, and live with a lighter spirit because your identity no longer hangs in the balance to prove yourself. Walk in confidence, knowing Jesus has already secured your place.

You can pause, breathe, and remember that the outcome no longer depends on your effort alone. Christ has already finished what matters most.

Today’s One Thing
Thank Jesus for the work He completed for you and others. Pray, “Christ secured my peace, my purpose, and my place with God.”
