Strength to Keep Going Together
The work God calls you to rarely fits in the hands of one person. He builds your strength and endurance through the people He places beside you—and what feels impossible alone becomes possible together.
At last the wall was completed to half its height around the entire city, for the people had worked with enthusiasm.
– Nehemiah 4:6 NLT
When people come together with one purpose, you can feel the unity—during a community project, or a season when everyone decides to keep showing up for one another. God uses that kind of unity to carry people farther than they could ever go alone.
Nehemiah understood this firsthand. The work before him looked enormous. Broken walls surrounded Jerusalem; opposition pressed in from every direction, and discouragement constantly tried to weaken the people’s resolve. Nehemiah trusted God, lead with courage, and the people built with willing hearts. Families worked side by side. The vision belonged to everyone, and that shared purpose gave them the strength to continue.
You experience moments like that, too. Some seasons stretch your energy thin. Responsibilities pile up. Deadlines grow heavy. Emotional burdens quietly drain your energy. God never intended for you to carry every assignment in isolation. He often strengthens you through people who pray beside you, encourage you, and remind you why the work matters.
Shared purpose gives people the strength to keep going when they would have stopped alone.
Jesus modeled strength through community. He gathered disciples, taught them together, sent them out together, and showed them the value of unity. The Holy Spirit still works through community today. He brings wisdom through conversations, courage through encouragement, and perseverance through shared struggles.
God continues to strengthen people who choose to stand together. Your willingness to encourage, support, and serve alongside others may become the very thing that helps someone keep going.
Today’s One Thing
Look around you today—who in your community needs encouragement to keep going? Reach out with a word, a prayer, or your presence. Then ask God: “Father, give me the strength to keep building alongside others.”
