Before You Asked

Miranda from Arizona was scrolling job postings every day and coming up empty. Then an out-of-the-blue phone call changed everything, and she realized God answered before she found the words to ask.

Before they call I will answer; while they are yet speaking I will hear.
— Isaiah 65:24 ESV

When Miranda’s phone rang, she expected spam. But to her surprise, it was Family Life Radio calling to thank her for her donation and to pray for her. “It caught me off guard.” She shared how she was searching for a new job, and what followed was, in her words, “the most beautiful prayer.”

Then things at the current job got worse.

God’s answer seldom looks like immediate relief. But our verse today promises that God hears before you ask, and that He was already moving before the prayer forms. Miranda kept showing up to work. She kept searching. She didn’t see God working, but He was.

God’s answer to your prayer was set in motion before you prayed it.

Then a text arrived from someone at a company she knew well, asking for her résumé. She sent it Saturday. Monday brought an email from the controller. Thursday brought a call and the very next Saturday she received an offer.

“It all happened within a week.”

She had been scanning job postings every day. “Nothing ever caught my eye.” The job she needed came from a contact she didn’t pursue, at a company she already trusted. “This job literally fell into my lap.”

God heard the prayer prayed over Miranda more than a month earlier and had already set the answer in motion, before things got worse at work, before the résumé was sent, before Miranda even knew which direction to look.

You may be doing everything right and seeing nothing move. The postings aren’t landing. The doors aren’t opening. Let Miranda’s story encourage you that God heard you before you asked. He is working; the answer is on its way.

“I give all the glory to God,” Miranda says, “and to the good people at Family Life Radio who I know were praying for me.”

Today’s One Thing
Bring your specific need to God today. Say it out loud, by name, with every detail. Then trust God’s promise in Isaiah 65:24: He heard you before you finished asking. The answer is on the way.
