Joy That Looks Beyond Today

Today isn’t the whole story! When you trust in God and surrender your life to Him, hope and joy reshape how you see the present. Biblical joy grows from that confidence, giving you the strength to face uncertainty because Jesus secured your future and the Holy Spirit keeps hope and joy alive within you.

Abraham was confidently looking forward to a city with eternal foundations, a city designed and built by God.
– Hebrews 11:10 NLT

Abel, Enoch, Noah, Abraham, Sarah, Moses, and many others spent much of their lives looking beyond the present. Abraham especially learned to move forward while trusting promises that stretched far beyond his lifetime. Their circumstances kept changing, while their confidence remained anchored in God.

Hebrews 11 reveals what shaped their perspectives. Their eyes reached beyond temporary surroundings toward something God Himself was preparing. Faith carried them forward, and joy walked beside them as they obeyed in hope.

Joy looks beyond what you see today and trusts what God promised for tomorrow.

You need that same perspective when today feels unfinished or uncertain. Your circumstances may occupy your attention, but your life rests firmly in God’s hands. Jesus secured your eternal future, and the Holy Spirit strengthens you to live with that hope and joy today. This eternal perspective changes how you handle today’s struggles. You can pray expectantly, love generously, serve faithfully, and press on because God’s story for you extends beyond your current moment.

One day, faith will become sight and the joy you experience now will reach its fullness in God’s presence. Until then, keep looking ahead. The Father who holds your future is faithfully leading you today.

Today’s One Thing
