Faith for the Next Generation
By faith Moses, when he was born, was hidden for three months by his parents, because they saw that the child was beautiful, and they were not afraid of the king’s edict.
─ Hebrews 11:23
Moses served as one of Israel’s greatest leaders, but before he led God’s people out of Egypt and into freedom from their Egyptian masters, he was just a child, born at a time when Egyptian law declared that all Israeli baby boys be killed. Miraculously, Moses’ parents hid him, and he was rescued and adopted by Pharaoh’s daughter, raised in the palace as one of the royal family.
Faith is sure and certain. Moses’ parents trusted God to protect their child’s life. They trusted God to care for him and be with him – especially when they could not. They believed in God’s character – that He was who He said He was. They also believed in His promises – that He would do what He said He would do. And they believed it not just for their own lives, but for the lives of their children and the next generation of God’s chosen people.
As parents, we must have faith – sure and certain – that God will take care of our children.
