Touching Base with God
And let the peace that comes from Christ rule in your hearts. For as members of one body you are called to live in peace. And always be thankful.
─ Colossians 3:15 NLT
How often do you touch base with God? For some people “touching base” with Him may sound a little nonchalant, but the truth is your relationship with Him should be calm, relaxed and simple, like the way you interact with those closest to you.
Those most important to you in your life have input into your life. You should inquire of Him with the decisions you make. And then, truly take time to listen. He created you and has all the wisdom you need for your life. Proverbs 2:6 says, “For the Lord gives wisdom; from his mouth come knowledge and understanding”.
Our lives are so busy, and we have so many things to do. God’s wisdom orders our lives, and order brings peace. He cares about every part of your life and wants to be a part of everything you do, but you must let Him. The verse for today in Colossians speaks to this peace. When you allow Him to be the umpire of your heart, touching base daily to let Him decide and settle all the questions in your mind, the result is harmony in your soul.
So, develop a habit of constantly touching base with God, looking to Him to serve as your umpire.
Today’s One Thing
With your decisions today – even the small ones — ask God to show you what to do and when to do it. He always has the right way.
