God’s Plan is Family
Do nothing from selfish ambition or conceit, but in humility count others more significant than yourselves. Let each of you look not only to his own interests, but also to the interests of others.
Philippians 2:3-4 ESV
From the beginning of time, God’s plans always included family – His family. God loves every person unconditionally, whether they’ve received Christ or not. Sometimes we think of ourselves more highly than we should – seeing ourselves as more loved by the Heavenly Father than someone without a relationship with Christ. He desires every person to not only know of Him but to know Him personally.
It’s time to shift our thinking. All were created as sons and daughters of God – even if they’ve not yet accepted Christ. As believers we have the mind of Christ, and scripture encourages us to treat others as more significant than ourselves with brotherly love.
Consider God’s love for those who walk in a relationship with Him and even those who are far from living in the truth. The Mirror Bible Study says “Your Christ mindedness completes my delight! You co-echo the same agape; we are soulmates, resonating the same thoughts. No hidden agenda with a compromised mixture of leaven or empty philosophical flattery can match a mind that genuinely values others above oneself. To discover your own completeness in Christ frees you to turn your attention away from yourself to others” (v. 2-4).
Today’s One Thing
When you think of treating others with God’s love, choose to include all the family – those who share the faith – and those who have yet realized God’s greatest gift.
