Choose One Word to Guide Your Year
A Christmas Message from Dr. Randy Carlson
For me and my family, Christmas is a time to pause and reflect. And this year, I’ve been thinking about something simple—but powerful: the power of a word.
If you could choose just one word to describe this season, what would it be?
- Maybe it would be joyful.
- Maybe holiday.
- Maybe family.
- Or maybe it would be pain.
- Maybe regret.
Whatever comes to mind, your word tells a story. It gives insight into where you are—and maybe where God is inviting you to go next.
One word can give your next season clarity, focus, and purpose.
One of the things we’re doing in our Intentional Living Christmas Special is helping people choose not just a word for the holidays, but a word for the new year.

We’re going to be reminding people of the power of one word for one year. Why? Because one word—prayerfully chosen—can help you live more intentionally, more clearly, and more faithfully.
You’ll hear stories from others who have picked their word for the new year, and I’d love for you to do the same.
Maybe you’ll share your own as well.
This is our Christmas gift to you—a way to slow down, listen for God’s voice, and prepare your heart for what’s next.
From all of us at Intentional Life Media, we hope you’ll join us.
