An Advocate for Good News
Advocates offer support, strength, counsel and intercede for us when necessary.
You obey the law of Christ when you offer each other a helping hand.
─ Galatians 6:2 CEV
God’s Word says Jesus is an advocate for all who choose to put their trust in Him: “My little children, these things I write to you, so that you may not sin. And if anyone sins, we have an Advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous” (1 John 2:1 NKJV). Jesus calls the Holy Spirit our Advocate (John 14:16, 26; 15:26; 16:7).
You advocate for Good News when you extend a helping hand to others.
Since we are called to be like Christ and follow Him, we too should be advocates for others. Our verse today encourages us to offer a helping hand to lighten the load of others. Helping someone can look different to each one of us depending on what we have to give and what someone God puts in our path may need.
Ways to be an advocate:
- Support someone with encouraging words.
- Lend your strength to a project that needs some muscle (painting, cleaning, changing a tire).
- Give a financial gift to someone in need.
- Offer advice if it seems welcomed.
- Pray and intercede for someone you know.
When you advocate the Good News, you are demonstrating what it means to belong to Christ, to live for and be loved by Him.
Today’s One Thing
Look at the list above and ask God to show you how you can be an advocate for someone today. Then make sure it goes into your schedule, so you ensure that it happens this week.
