Anchor in Still Waters
We’ve all experienced moments when anxiety, fear, stress, or worry creep into our hearts and minds, uninvited guests that catch us off guard.
When my anxious thoughts multiply within me, Your comforts delight my soul.
– Psalm 94:19 AMP
When you start to feel that familiar tightness in your chest or a fluttering of worry in your stomach, take a step back and acknowledge these feelings. The physical signs signal something is amiss in our emotional and spiritual well-being. Recognizing these signals is the first step toward managing them.
Taking a moment to breathe and bring your concerns to God can shift your perspective and bring peace to your heart.
We are reminded that even when our anxious thoughts multiply, God’s comforts can bring delight to our souls. This act of turning to Him helps us to reset and refocus. It’s an intentional act of surrendering our fears and stresses, knowing that He cares for us deeply. But how do we make this a practical part of our daily lives?
- Pause and breathe.
- Identify and name your feelings, which can diminish their power over you and make them more manageable.
- Bring your concerns to God in prayer.
- Practice gratitude.
- Don’t carry your burdens alone but look to your community.
By intentionally backing up from our worries and bringing them to God, we can find the peace and clarity we need to navigate through life’s challenges with grace and faith.
Today’s One Thing
Today, set aside five minutes to pause, breathe, and pray whenever you start to feel anxious. Write down your feelings and bring them to God, thanking Him for His presence and peace.
