Are You Still Listening?
God is speaking—through His Word, by His Spirit, and in the quiet of your heart. He still has something to say. And yes, you can hear Him.
The Almighty Lord will teach me what to say, so I will know how to encourage weary people. Morning after morning he will wake me to listen like a student.
– Isaiah 50:4 GW
Where do your thoughts go in the early morning—the hush before the day begins. In that space, Isaiah 50:4 gives us a glimpse of a Christ follower as the Father awakens his ear to hear.
God not only gives us breath for the day but also opens our spiritual ears to receive His voice. We’re invited into a daily, living connection with a God who speaks.
Jesus, you have my attention, even when the world is loud.
God desires to be near and personal.
He speaks through His Word (Romans 10:17). As we read the Bible, our hearts are softened, our ears are tuned, and His truth becomes more familiar.
He leads by His Spirit (John 16:13). The Holy Spirit gently nudges, corrects, and comforts—often in moments when we least expect it.
He confirms with His peace (Colossians 3:15). Sometimes, you’ll sense His voice simply through the deep calm that follows obedience.
He affirms through godly counsel (Proverbs 11:14). Trusted voices in our lives often help us discern what God is already saying.
This practice of spiritual listening begins with posture: a heart that leans in, and a spirit that says, “Speak, Lord. I’m listening.” And when we show up with that kind of expectancy, He meets us with clarity, kindness, and the exact word our hearts need.
You were created to hear the voice of your Heavenly Father. He is still speaking, and He delights to be heard.
Today’s One Thing
Set a timer for five minutes and simply sit with this prayer: “Jesus, You have my attention. I’m here to listen.” Let His presence fill the quiet.
