Born to Overcome the World

Your faith is more powerful than anything this world throws at you. You were born to overcome the world.

For every child of God defeats this evil world, and we achieve this victory through our faith. And who can win this battle against the world? Only those who believe that Jesus is the Son of God.
– 1 John 5:4-5 NLT

You are a child of God, and that changes everything about how you face today. In our verse today John writes that every child of God defeats the world. The victory isn’t something you earn. You inherited victory the moment you placed your faith in Jesus. You stepped onto ground the world simply cannot claim.

That’s the identity you carry into every hard season, every relentless week, every moment when life feels bigger than you. Who you are in Christ is already the answer.

The victory was yours the moment you believed; the battle you’ve been fighting is already won.

Surrender and victory meet in faith. The winning weapon John describes is the confident, open-handed trust in Jesus.

And trust, by its very nature, is an act of surrender. To say “Jesus, I trust You with this,” is both surrender and victory in the same breath. You release your grip, and you find that He has already been holding what you were carrying.

You already have what it takes because you have Him. Walk into this day as what you already are: a child of God who overcomes.

Today’s One Thing
Bring one thing to Jesus today that’s been weighing on you, and offer it to Him with this prayer: “Jesus, I trust You with this. I choose faith over striving today.
