Breaking Fear’s Power
Talking about the very difficult time of going through a miscarriage, Hannah McClure shared, “When I’m in the ICU, the Lord’s not expecting me to not feel fear when I wake up alone. What’s happening? He doesn’t expect me to be perfect and not experience emotions because He’s kind and He knows that’s just—I’m a human.”
Nothing in all creation can separate us from God’s love for us in Christ Jesus our Lord!
– Romans 8:39 CEV
Hannah’s words remind us that God understands our humanity, our fears, and our imperfections. You might be in a situation right now where fear feels overwhelming. Maybe you’re facing a health crisis, a challenging relationship, or an uncertain future. It’s easy to think that you should be strong, that you shouldn’t feel fear if you have faith. But that’s not what God expects of you.
The Apostle Paul assures us that no matter what we face, God’s love remains steadfast (Romans 8:38-39). God doesn’t expect you to be fearless; He expects you to bring your fears to Him.
When you bring your fears into God’s light, they lose their power over you.
As you set your fears before Him, you allow space for God to work in your life, to bring you peace that surpasses all understanding.
So, what’s troubling you today? Don’t suppress it. Don’t pretend it’s not there. Acknowledge it and give it to God. Let Him minister to you in your fear, just as He did for Hannah. Remember, God’s love for you is so immense that nothing can separate you from it—not even your deepest fears.
Take a moment to sit in God’s presence, acknowledging your fears but also acknowledging His immense love for you. Let that love wash over you, bringing peace to your troubled heart. Remember, you’re human, and that’s perfectly okay with God.
Today’s One Thing
Pray: “Heavenly Father, I bring my fears and anxieties to You. I know I don’t have to be perfect in Your eyes, and I thank You for Your unconditional love. Please minister to me in my fear, fill me with Your peace, and remind me that nothing can separate me from Your love. In Jesus’ name, Amen.”
