Broken Dreams

Shattered dreams hit hard. One moment you’re filled with excitement and anticipation, and the next, poof, you’re staring at an unexpected, closed door. Plans fall apart, expectations unravel, and you’re left trying to make sense of the pieces. But even in that space, where hope feels thin and answers feel far off, you can begin to look for something more. God is still there in the wreckage.

The Lord is close to the brokenhearted; He rescues those whose spirits are crushed.
– Psalm 34:18 NLT

God sees every shattered dream, and He doesn’t look away. He promises to draw near, not just to comfort you, but to restore what grief tried to erase. Scripture says He stays close to the brokenhearted, not from a distance, not in theory, but in the middle of your pain. When your dreams break, He sits with you and breathes His presence into you.

You might feel tempted to hide your disappointment, but He already knows. And He invites you to bring every shattered thought and dream to Him. Because He doesn’t just mend things, He remakes them. Sometimes it’s not in the way you pictured, but in a way that brings peace even when things change. That takes trust in Jesus, who knows what it’s like to feel sorrow and still walk in purpose.

God is with you during your shattered dreams and will rescue you.

It’s okay to grieve what didn’t happen. But don’t stop there. You still have breath in your lungs and a God who calls you by name. Let your disappointment become a place where hope rises again. Maybe not today. But God’s timing doesn’t waste anything, not even broken dreams.

Let God heal the parts you’ve tried to ignore. Let Him whisper a better “yes” into the quiet space where your “no” settled. Jesus, your faithful Savior, never left. He is building and preparing something better.

Today’s One Thing
Thank God for His promises. Say aloud, “I trust that God is near, healing what is broken, creating new hope, and developing a new dream in my heart and mind.”
