“Come Closer”
Some days, you’re not discouraged—you’re just done. Worn out. Running on empty. If that’s where you are today, take heart: God isn’t asking you to push through—He’s inviting you to rest.
“I will refresh the weary and satisfy the faint.”
– Jeremiah 31:25 NIV
You’re not falling apart. You’re just exhausted. And sometimes, that’s even harder to admit. You’re the strong one, the dependable one. You hold the pieces together for your family, your job, your church—but somewhere along the way, you lost track of it all. Now you’re bone tired. Not just physically, but emotionally and spiritually too.
The good news? God sees your weariness—and He cares deeply about it.
Jeremiah 31:25 is one of those quiet promises we sometimes overlook: “I will refresh the weary and satisfy the faint.” God doesn’t say, “Try harder.” He says, “Come closer.”
God doesn’t need you to be strong—He wants you to be honest. That’s where restoration begins.
There’s a difference between quitting and resting. Rest says, “I trust God enough to stop striving.” Rest says, “I don’t have to hold everything together—because He already is.”
Even Jesus stepped away to be alone with the Father. Even He slept in the middle of the storm. So why do we think we have to push through every moment like we’re invincible?
What if today, the holiest thing you could do is take a breath, let go of the mental checklist, and remember: You are held. You are loved. You are enough.
Even in your most depleted state, God isn’t disappointed in you—He’s drawing near to you.
You don’t need to prove anything today. God sees your heart. He knows how much you’ve been carrying. Let Him carry you now.
Today’s One Thing
Take 10 minutes for stillness today. Lie down, close your eyes, and breathe deeply. Repeat this phrase out loud or in your heart: “God, You are my rest.” Let those words settle over your soul.
