Fix Your Eyes on Him

Everywhere you look, someone or something is trying to get our attention. Distractions are everywhere, and before we know it, we’ve taken our eyes off of what matters most—God and our relationship with Him.

Don’t become so well-adjusted to your culture that you fit into it without even thinking. Instead, fix your attention on God.

– Romans 12:2 MSG

The Apostle Paul reminds us not to become so accustomed to our culture that we blend in without thought. Instead, we are called to fix our attention on God, allowing His presence and truth to shape our lives. This deliberate focus changes us deeply, molding our character and aligning our desires with His will.

Intentionally staying focused on God transforms you from the inside out, drawing you closer to His heart and will.

Fixing our attention requires action—prioritizing time with Him even in the busiest moments of our lives. When we start our day in prayer, meditate on His Word, and seek His guidance throughout the day, we cultivate thoughts and intents of the heart on God.

As we remain fixed on God, we become more aware of His desires for us and stand ready to respond quickly and obediently to His direction. When our minds are renewed by God’s truth, He protects us from being dragged down by the immaturity of the surrounding culture. Instead of succumbing to negativity and superficial values, we rise to the higher standard that God sets for us.

By fixing our attention on God, we open ourselves to His transformative work. We rise to the higher standard that the Father sets for us. His transformative power brings out the best in us, developing maturity and Christlike character.

Today’s One Thing

This week, make a conscious effort to place your attention on God. Start each day with a moment of prayer, asking God to help you focus on Him. Throughout the day, take breaks to read a verse or simply breathe and acknowledge His presence. Reflect on how this intentional focus impacts your thoughts and actions.
