God Is Really Good

Sometimes we can’t help but question if God is really good. We can struggle with understanding how a good God could allow such terrible things to happen in our world. But the Bible, the foundation of our faith, repeatedly declares – He is everything good.

“For the Lord is good and his love endures forever; his faithfulness continues through all generations.”
─ Psalm 100:5 NIV

As the rich young ruler approached Jesus, he called him “Good teacher.” He perceived Jesus to be “good.” But Jesus replied, “Why do you call me good? No one is good except God alone” (Mark 10:18 ESV).

Choose to see God through His faithfulness.

It comes down to what you believe about God.
• Do you believe He is good?
• Do you believe He wants to give you everything good?

In those moments when you find yourself struggling to believe God only wants good for you, it’s time to shift your perspective. Take a hard look to see that the lens you are viewing life through isn’t clouded by past disappointments and discouragement that can lead you to doubt His goodness.

Make sure that what you believe about God and His desire to do good in your life flows through a biblical filter. What does God’s Word say about His faithfulness to you?

The Bible is full of great demonstrations of God’s faithfulness to the impossible in the lives of those who love Him, against all the odds.

Today’s One Thing
Choose to believe God is good today by remembering His faithfulness. Reread the words of the psalmist in the verse for today. Recount the times in your life or in your family when God’s goodness brought you through a tough time.
