Welcoming Others with Grace
Jesus never waited for people to have it together before welcoming them close. When you make room for imperfect people, you mirror His heart, and create a space where healing and hope can grow.
And Jesus answered them, “Those who are well have no need of a physician, but those who are sick. I have not come to call the righteous but sinners to repentance.”
— Luke 5:31-32 ESV
Picture a room full of people with complicated histories—laughter, honest conversation, Jesus right in the middle of it all, fully present and completely at ease. That scene still speaks powerfully to your life today.
Jesus never waited for people to be perfect before welcoming them close. He stepped into ordinary spaces, shared meals, and listened carefully. His grace and compassion drew people toward hope instead of shame.
When people experience belonging rather than judgment, they open up. Welcoming others means loving people as they are while trusting the Holy Spirit to continue His transforming work in their hearts—holding truth and grace and truth together the way Jesus did. He welcomed people that others avoided, and His love often became the very thing that led them toward change.
Jesus sat at tables with the people others avoided, and His presence changed them.
Jesus still restores lives through ordinary moments of genuine welcome. The Holy Spirit still works through simple moments of connection and encouragement. When you extend that same welcome to others, you open the door to the love He wants everyone to know.
The Holy Spirit works through your kindness, and sometimes your open door becomes someone’s first encounter with the love of Christ. With grace and love, keep making room for people. God does beautiful work around ordinary tables and open hearts.
Today’s One Thing
Ask the Lord to help you grow in this area, and affirm, “I will welcome others with the same grace Jesus has shown me, creating space for healing, belonging, and hope.”
