He Heard Me
God leans in when we call, and His restoring love begins to make us whole—right where we are.
I waited patiently for the Lord; And He inclined to me, And heard my cry.
— Psalm 40:1 NKJV
Our verse today says God “inclined” to the psalmist. That word paints a picture of a loving Father leaning in, listening closely, responding with compassion.
Amber from Arizona experienced that kind of nearness in a season when everything in her life felt shaken. “Our family of seven was hit by Hurricane Milton. We lost a lot. It took a toll on our marriage, our kids… everything.”
God takes the wreckage left by the storm and rebuilds hearts, homes, and the families.
God moves toward our pain. And when we wait on Him, even in exhaustion and uncertainty, He answers with strength, provision, and deep restoration.
With no home and limited options, Amber’s family spent nearly a year living in an RV. The pressure was heavy, but Amber held on to one unshakable hope: God would hear her cry. “I cried out for help. He heard.” And then, piece by piece, she began to see God’s hand restoring what had been torn apart. “He provided a home. He’s restoring our marriage. He’s restoring our kids.”
Through every prayer whispered in tears, through every long day of holding on, He is forming something whole again. Not simply returning life to how it was but shaping it into something stronger and more rooted in His goodness.
Maybe you’re in a season of waiting or rebuilding. Maybe you’re holding out hope for restoration in your own home, heart, or family. Let Amber’s story remind you that God hears. He leans in. And He restores—fully and faithfully.
Today’s One Thing
Find a quiet space today to speak Psalm 40:1 aloud. As you say it, picture God drawing near to you, leaning in, ready to listen. Offer Him one area where you’re asking for restoration and thank Him in advance for His faithfulness.
