Love Moves Toward Others

Unexpected love stirs the heart with a warmth you can’t ignore. Perhaps you’ve experienced God leaning toward you after seasons of busyness, noise, and distractions.

Then a despised Samaritan came along, and when he saw the man, he felt compassion for him.
– Luke 10:33 NLT

Jesus describes a man who noticed another one’s suffering and moved closer instead of away. Compassion for others reflects the heart of God the Father, who always steps toward brokenness, pain, and hurt. His kindness is more than forgiveness and charity; it encourages gently but persistently.

God’s love is filled with compassion.

You know what’s right. You recognize how distractions crowd out compassion for others. The Holy Spirit sees that place clearly and meets you there without condemnation, but with subtle conviction. He softens what has hardened. He reminds you that indifference isn’t your true nature. Love placed in you by God always longs to be active. When you ask Him to stir your heart, He responds with patience, power, and inspiring compassion.

Jesus lived this love in action. He touched what others avoided. He listened when voices were ignored. Every time, His love moved, and that same love now lives in you through the Spirit. As you ask God to stir your heart, He reshapes your responses, nudging you toward mercy, generosity, and courage. Love begins to move again—toward people, not noise; toward needs, not narratives. God hasn’t stopped working in you. His kindness is still stirring, and love is still ready to move.

Today’s One Thing
Pause today and ask God to soften one place where you’ve grown indifferent, then take one small step of love toward someone in need. Remind yourself, “God’s kindness stirs my heart, replaces numbness with tenderness, and moves me to love others with purposeful action.”
