Only God Can Do That!
When we return to the Father with open hearts, He meets us with restoration, affirmation, and love that stirs us to begin again.
So rend your heart, and not your garments; Return to the Lord your God, For He is gracious and merciful, Slow to anger, and of great kindness; And He relents from doing harm.
— Joel 2:13 NKJV
Darryl from Arizona shared an unforgettable moment of restoration with God—one that still stirs his heart years later.
“I was restored back to God after drinking heavily. I went back to church, and said, ‘I have to do this right.’ So, I found your station and heard my wife’s voice on Family Life Radio saying she was thankful for getting her husband back! Only God could do that! This happened in 2019, and I’ve been listening since then.”
When we take one step toward the Father, He runs to meet us with love, affirmation, and joy.
Darryl’s story is a picture of what happens when a heart turns back to the Father. It’s not about earning His love—it’s about receiving His mercy. When Darryl decided to return and “do this right,” God met him with open arms—and even gave him a divine confirmation in the form of his wife’s voice on the radio.
That’s not coincidence. That’s the Father’s kindness at work. Joel 2:13 tells us clearly God is “gracious and merciful, slow to anger, and of great kindness.” When we come back, He welcomes us without shame. He restores what was broken. And sometimes, He even speaks to us in ways we could never expect.
For Darryl, that moment in 2019 stirred his heart. And His relationship with the Father has continued ever since.
Wherever you are in your relationship with God, it’s never too late to return. Whether you’re coming back or starting fresh, the Father is ready to meet you, speak to you, and restore what’s been lost.
Today’s One Thing
Spend five quiet minutes with God today. Ask Him to stir your heart again—to remind you of His kindness, His voice, and His desire for closeness with you.
