Seeds of Humility, Fruits of Greatness

Hudson Taylor said, “A little thing is a little thing, but faithfulness in little things is a great thing.”

“For whoever exalts himself will be humbled, and he who humbles himself will be exalted.”

– Luke 14:11 NKJV

The small, humble steps often lead us to the greater, more significant milestones. It’s easy to overlook these moments, but God sees and values each one. He uses our humble beginnings and our willingness to serve in small ways to prepare us for greater purposes.

True greatness is found in the small, everyday acts of faithfulness and humility.

In God’s culture, the lesser often leads to the greater. Jesus, our ultimate example, didn’t come to earth as a conquering king despite the many who wanted Him to, but as a humble servant. He washed His disciples’ feet, fed the hungry, and healed the sick—responses of humility and service.

When we embrace humility, we open ourselves to God’s greater purposes. It’s in the everyday acts of kindness, the quiet prayers, and the unnoticed sacrifices that we grow in Christlike character and faith.

When we focus on serving others, even in small ways, we reflect Christ’s love. When we are diligent in our work, no matter how mundane it may seem, we honor God. And when we are consistent in our spiritual practices—reading Scripture, praying, and worshiping—we cultivate a deeper relationship with Him. We can embrace the lesser with a joyful heart, knowing that God is using each moment to lead us to the greater.
