Share His Hope
The Spirit of the Lord God is upon me, because the Lord has anointed me to bring good news to the poor; he has sent me to bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives, and the opening of the prison to those who are bound.
─ Isaiah 61:1
Marla felt her phone vibrate inside her purse as she said her goodbyes to friends from her Bible study group. She started her car, turned on the heater and looked at her phone to see who had texted her before heading home.
The text from her coworker Brianne read: would you please pray for me. I know I haven’t been receptive to the things you’ve shared about Christ – but I’ve heard you pray for others. My family is in crisis.
Marla picked up the phone and called. Brianne struggled to speak through her tears. “We’re at the hospital … car wreck … brother and nephew ….”
Marla spoke softly. “Brianne, it’s okay. You don’t have to talk. I’ll just pray for you all now, over the phone.” As Marla began to pray, she could tell Brianne was beginning to calm down.
As she ended the prayer, she offered to come to the hospital. “Can I just come and sit with you?”
Brianne whispered, “Yes, that would be nice.”
Today’s One Thing
When have you been surprised that others took notice of your relationship with God? God used your witness to point others to Him. Thank God for those opportunities and trust Him for more times to share His hope.
