Standing Firm When Fear Pressures You
Have you ever felt unqualified, yet you know deep within you have been called? Fear pushes you to step back, but faith reminds you that God equips you in your weakest moments. Like Moses before Pharaoh, you discover courage by trusting God’s presence more than your doubt.
God answered, “I will be with you. And this is your sign that I am the one who has sent you: When you have brought the people out of Egypt, you will worship God at this very mountain.”
– Exodus 3:12 NLT
What do you call that intangible, but real spark that rises in your spirit when God calls you toward something that feels larger than your comfort zone? You sense your courage whispering before your confidence fully forms. You recognize the moment, because something inside you says, “This matters.”
You know what it feels like to stand in that space between purpose and hesitation. You focus on your fear and wonder if God chose the wrong person. You feel unqualified, underprepared, and acutely aware of your weaknesses. Moses stood in that same place when God sent him to face Pharaoh, aware of his inadequacy yet still chosen for the task. God met his uncertainty with the promise of His presence.
You can always trust God’s presence more than your fear.
Your calling was never based on your résumé, but on what God has designed for you. God equips you for the task He has called you to complete. Just as He turned Moses’ staff into a sign of His power, He provides you with tangible signs of His presence. God goes with you when the assignment stretches beyond your confidence.
Think about the fact that your faith leads you forward before your confidence catches up. You grow when you trust Him more than any discomfort. Yes, this takes courage and strength. You feel that intangible strength when you trust God and recognize that inner spark is the Holy Spirit guiding you.
You are invited to rely on God’s presence in the middle of doubts. Faith moves you into spaces where fear would have left you empty and abandoned, but God never leaves you.
Today’s One Thing
Take one step today toward something you’ve been afraid to pursue, and affirm, “I trust God. He will lead me as I pursue His direction.”
