Steady, Confident Strides
You already have what you need to walk through life with steady confidence. Peter shows how intentional spiritual growth leads to a faith that stands firm. Discover the joy and security that come from living your identity in Christ with clarity and purpose.
“So, dear brothers and sisters, work hard to prove that you really are among those God has called and chosen. Do these things, and you will never fall away.”
– 2 Peter 1:10 NLT
Peter knew what it meant to waver—and what it meant to be restored. His life was shaped by the grace of Jesus, and by that grace, he became a bold, steady voice for the early church.
In 2 Peter 1, he invites us into a life full of strength and clarity. He reminds us that God has already called and chosen us—and that when we actively grow in Christlike character, our faith becomes steady and sure. In his words, we find this promise: if we live in response to our calling—growing in godly character and staying connected to Jesus—we will not fall.
Christ secured your identity in Him—now take each step with confident faith.
Peter calls us to “work hard” because spiritual growth requires intentionality. He lists qualities like moral excellence, self-control, and love as markers of a maturing faith. And the more we practice these Christlike traits, the more confident we become in our identity as His.
Jesus is the source of that growth. His divine power has already given us everything we need (2 Peter 1:3), and His Spirit enables us to walk in a way that reflects who we truly are in Him.
You are chosen. You are called. And by God’s power, you are equipped to grow. Let the way you live reflect the One who called you—and take each step with the confidence that Christ is with you and at work within you.
Today’s One Thing
Ask the Holy Spirit to highlight one Christlike trait to focus on this week. Write it down, and pray daily for grace to walk in it, trusting that every step forward strengthens your faith.
