The Gift of Music
God sings over us with His strength. And often, His song becomes our survival.
The Lord your God in your midst, The Mighty One, will save; He will rejoice over you with gladness, He will quiet you with His love, He will rejoice over you with singing.
— Zephaniah 3:17 NKJV
Laura from Alabama knows this firsthand. After losing her husband in 2016, she was left with four young children and a mountain of grief. The world didn’t pause to let her heal. Life kept going. But God, in His mercy, met her in the hardest places—and often, He met her through music. “Christian music has helped and encouraged me through all the hard times,” she shared. “And I love all the testimonies.”
Christian music became Laura’s lifeline, one lyric at a time. In the chaos of motherhood, in the quiet moments of missing someone who should still be here, in the unrelenting pace of solo parenting—God was there.
Singing over her.
Holding her up.
Using music to speak peace into her storm.
Even in the darkest valleys, God gives us songs of hope to carry us through.
Sometimes we think we need to have it all together before we can worship. But worship is often born in the broken places. Even when everything feels shattered, God’s presence is steady, and His voice is still singing.
If today finds you walking through your own valley—whether it’s grief, uncertainty, or exhaustion—let Laura’s story remind you that you are not alone. Turn up the music. Let the truth of God’s Word wash over you. Let worship do its healing work.
Today’s One Thing
Choose one worship song that speaks to your heart and listen to it on repeat. Let the lyrics be your prayer, your comfort, or your praise. Write down one line that reminds you of God’s faithfulness and place it where you’ll see it often.
