The Power of Yes
Mary didn’t have all the answers when the angel shared God’s plan with her. She simply said yes. When you place your plans in God’s hands, your view of life begins to change. What once looked uncertain becomes the doorway to His greater purpose.
Mary responded, “I am the Lord’s servant. May everything you have said about me come true.” And then the angel left her.
– Luke 1:38 NLT
Some of life’s moments arrive quietly, yet they carry the power to reshape things. One conversation, one realization, or one whisper from God opens your eyes to a bigger story unfolding around you. When that happens, what seemed ordinary begins to feel purposeful.
Mary experienced such a moment when the angel appeared with great news that stretched far beyond anything she could ever imagine. Her dedicated and faith-filled life was already taking shape. She was fulfilling responsibilities given to her by her family, and, more than likely, dreaming about the future. Then, God invited her into something she never could have imagined on her own.
Surrender opens your story up to what God has in mind all along.
You encounter similar moments in your own life. When God calls you, plans may feel uncertain, and questions may not be fully answered immediately, but a response of remarkable trust is all He needs from you. When you release control and allow God to guide your direction, your surrendered heart begins to see life through a wider lens.
Mary’s trust and obedience continue to inspire believers today. Her willingness to trust God’s Word reminds us that surrender creates space for God’s promises to unfold. When your perspective aligns with His purpose, your life begins to reflect His greater story.
Today’s One Thing
Be encouraged to surrender your plans over to God and let Him lead you. Assure yourself, “I trust God’s purpose for my life, and I welcome His plans with a faithful heart.”
