“This is the Way”
“God, what should I do?” You’ve asked that question, especially when you’re standing at a crossroads, weighing your next move—What do I do next? Where do I go? Who do I ask? While in this desperate search for answers, you have racing thoughts, expectations from others, or the pressure to get it all right that clouds the still, small voice you long to hear.
Whether you turn to the right or the left, your ears will hear a voice behind you, saying, “This is the way; walk in it.”
– Isaiah 30:21 NIV
God isn’t silent, standoffish, or distant. He loves you and speaks through His Word, through peace in your spirit, and sometimes through a whisper that interrupts your rush with clarity. Sure, a clear audible voice from the Lord would be magnificent to hear, but it rarely happens.
A good way to spiritually hear God is to clear your space, quiet your phone, let go of the need for immediate answers, and sit in silence with Him. The “key” is with Him. God’s voice often speaks after you’ve stilled everything else.
The Holy Spirit helps you recognize His leading. He doesn’t shout over chaos. His direction comes with peace, not pressure. When you follow His lead, you don’t always get the whole map, but you will get the next step.
God’s not hiding His direction from you. He wants you to be still.
You don’t need to chase every opinion or be paralyzed by indecision. You have the Spirit of the Living God inside you. He counsels. He comforts. He leads. Sometimes, it takes stepping away from the noise of comparison, productivity, and even well-meaning advice to hear Him say, “This is the way.”
God’s voice brings clarity in confusion and courage when you feel unsure. When you learn to listen closely, you’ll find that He’s been speaking all along. Take time to quiet your heart. Ask Him to speak and believe He will.
Today’s One Thing
Ask God to speak to you, and declare, “I trust that God is speaking. I will quiet my heart and listen for His voice to lead me in His purpose and direction.”
