Trusting God Beyond Your Reach

Who do you trust when you have no choice but to let go? Some of the most meaningful miracles begin when you have the courage to release what you love most into God’s care.

But when she could no longer hide him, she got a basket made of papyrus reeds and waterproofed it with tar and pitch. She put the baby in the basket and laid it among the reeds along the bank of the Nile River.
— Exodus 2:3 NLT

Jochebed loved Moses with open hands. She trusted God beyond her reach. As she placed Moses in that basket among the reeds, her surrendered heart said, “God, I’m putting this where You can do what I can’t.”

Surrender is making your best faithful move—then letting God handle what’s out of your hands.

In Exodus, when Moses’ life was in danger, we’re simply shown what his mother did.
She made a plan.
She built a basket.
She sealed it with tar and pitch.
She chose the placement.

Maybe you’ve been carrying an outcome like it’s your job to guarantee it—your child’s choices, a relationship that feels fragile, a decision you can’t force, a future you can’t see. You can love deeply and still admit, “God, this is bigger than me.” That’s often the moment peace starts to return.

Jochebed’s basket was a handoff. She placed Moses where she couldn’t follow—and God arranged what she couldn’t plan.

If you’re standing at the edge of what you can’t control, the same God who watched over that riverbank is with you in your “handoff” too. You’re being invited to trust. Keep showing up in love. Make the wise next step. And then release the rest to God, even when it’s beyond your reach.

Today’s One Thing
Write one sentence: “God, I’m trusting You beyond my reach with ______.”
Then list two columns:
In my hands today: one wise, loving step you can take.
In God’s hands: the outcome you can’t carry.
Pray over both—and when you’re tempted to take it back, return to that second column and release it again.
